ELISA Reagent Set for Peanut stunt virus (PSV)
This ELISA test is a qualitative serological assay for the detection of Peanut stunt virus (PSV), also known as groundnut stunt, in bean and peanut leaves and seed. PVS is a member of the Cucumovirus genus known for their non-enveloped, spherical virus particles.
Peanut stunt virus causes severe disease in beans and peanuts. It can also infect a large number of other crops, including alfalfa, clover, cucurbits, tobacco, and tomato.
The aphids, Myzus persicae, Aphis craccivora, and Aphis spiraecola can all transmit PSV in a non-persistent manner. These aphid vectors can spread PSV to highly susceptible crops from reservoir host legumes such as alfalfa and clover, where it can overwinter. PSV can also be seed-transmitted.
This test system has very low background and no cross-reaction with Cucumber mosaic virus; for other technical information click here.. Using this test system, you can detect both the eastern strain and the western strain of PSV. Optical density values for samples infected with the eastern strain may be somewhat higher than for samples infected with the western strain.
